The hot days are fading and the leaves will shortly fall... this not only means time for a change but also time for more spectacularly acquirable booze from yours truly, and this season is yet another fantastic pick from the gang at Seddon and Union Wine Stores. 

 

EMMALENE SPARKLING BLANC DE NOIR

Made with great lineage behind this brand (including the spectacular Turkey flat Heritage) comes a 100% Pinot Noir bubbles. Bright red fruit with citrus and a slight hint of fairy floss. Perfect on its own or even enough gas to pair with spicy Asian cuisine.

 

WEST CAPE HOWE RIESLING

This delicious dry Riesling is fine and delicate. It has weight and texture with quite pretty fruit flavours and good palate length. Expect lime, delicious tangy acidity, and a zippy lemon sherbert finish. Best served with farinaceous or dairy oriented foods.

DEMIMO VERDEJO

This is a brilliant representation of a Spanish classic from a single parcel, located on the border of Segovia and Valladolid provinces. This is a very Segovian style Verdejo with bay leaf, hemp and medicinal aromas, and filled out with lime and grapefruit on the palate. This is a bright, elegant and approachable young wine with a flinty fresh finish; perfect with seafood and tomato-based dishes.

 

FIRST DROP ‘VIVO’ ARNEIS

Forget your G&T! This Arneis from the cool climate of the Adelaide Hills will quench your thirst and refresh you. With notes of citrus and lime zest, complemented by a hint of nashi pear and minerality, this wine is more than just a simple aperitivo. It’s pure fruitiness and zippy persistence!

 

ROCCA SOAVE

Made from 100% Garganega, this classic, elegant northern Italian variety shows straw and grass in both hue and aromas. There's some rich stone fruit and melon in the mid palate, With a classic bitter/aperitivo style finish. the perfect party starter… or finisher!
 

ANIMALE CHARDONNAY

This is an amazing citrus driven Chardonnay from the Yarra Valley by Dave Macintosh from Arfion and wow... what a wine! Filled to the brim with tart citrus and just a touch of creaminess, all around it’s a fun and enjoyable wine that will make you smile after every sip.

CHATILLION ROSE

Chatillon is Ed Peter‘s (owner of Australia’s Yarra Yering) project in the French Alps; organic viticultural practices, all estate grown grapes (Gamay with 10% pinot), Vin de Savoie AOC.  Mouthwatering salmon colour, lively aromatics, lovely juicy red fruits and stone fruit with pristine alpine acidity. This is classic dry provincial style; moreish, & delicious!

YERING LANE PINOT NOIR

From the Boys at Martingale Estate comes this classic Yarra Valley Pinot Noir. It’s both bright and approachable, with classic forest fruits and delectable herbaceous amaro characters which makes it ideal for barbecues, pizza or even if you’re not feeling hungry.

 

LUZADOR TINTO

With an even split of Garnacha and Tempranillo, this Luzador is born from 40 acres of biodynamically farmed vineyards in Navarra. With a medium body and juicy, plummy, tea leaf, licorice root, fresh plums, bell pepper, black pepper, flint sparks, blackberries, violets, sage, tomato, graphite, warm spices on the finish... should we go on? Likes a slight chill too! Simply wonderful.

 

COLLE CORVIANO MONTEPULCIANO

With dark cherry, amaro and liquorice aromas enveloped with dark plum, dried herb and scorched earth notes. Dark juicy and sturdy tannins impart a chewy feel onto the back half. Dried herbs, inky earth and vanillin spice characters are also present. Perfect for the Autumnal months and for those who prefer the richer side of red wine.

 

MUNICIPAL SYRAH TEMPRANILLO

From the central Victorian region of Strathbogie comes this amazing little blend of Syrah and Tempranillo. With aromas of plum, sour cherry, blueberry, cola, Christmas spices and sour garden fruits it also brings great structure, excellent length and a lovely fresh finish. Ideal with smokey or grilled meats and vegetables

 

FOLASSIER COTES DU RHONE

 From one of our favourite international producers comes this bright, forthright, fruity and subtly spicy Southern Rhone blend. From delicious dark fruit and liquorice comes full and expressive tannins accompanied by notes of undergrowth. This wine is a wonderful fresh expression of its terroir by the master, M. Chapoutier.
